Job Overview
Join SSP Canada as a Barista at the Starbucks location within Ottawa International Airport, offering a full-time role with a starting wage of $19.12 per hour along with a comprehensive benefits package and free employee parking. This role focuses on preparing, serving, and selling beverages to travelers, playing a pivotal role in delivering a great caffeine experience to airport guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and courteously.
- Accurately enter orders using a Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handle customer payments and issue correct change.
- Prepare and serve hot, cold, and frozen drinks plus a variety of food items.
- Adhere strictly to recipes and portion controls to maintain quality and presentation standards.
- Conduct opening, ongoing, and closing checklists as required.
- Execute assigned cleaning tasks with standard products to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Perform any other duties as directed by supervisors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least one year of food service experience.
- Previous barista experience is preferred, especially in a Starbucks setting.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; French proficiency is an asset.
- Memory skills to recall and promote menu items.
- Proficiency in operating keyboards and POS procedures to process customer transactions.
- Capability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended durations.
- Successful completion of Transport Canada’s 5-year background check required.
