Role Overview
The Barista’s main responsibility is to craft and serve top-quality coffee, tea, and specialty drinks while ensuring outstanding guest service aligned with the hotel's standards. This role demands maintaining consistent beverage preparation, organizing café operations, and creating an inviting ambiance that elevates guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages following standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and maintain them properly.
- Serve non-coffee beverages and light food items when applicable.
- Ensure the quality and presentation of beverages remain consistent, addressing any discrepancies immediately.
- Warmly welcome guests and deliver attentive, personalized service.
- Accurately take orders, process payments through the POS system, and promote beverage and menu recommendations including upselling.
- Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally to foster positive relationships.
- Set up and prepare the coffee station before operations begin.
- Monitor stock supplies such as coffee beans, milk, syrups, and cups; notify supervisors about shortages.
- Complete all opening and closing tasks diligently.
- Assist with receiving and storing café supplies using FIFO principles.
- Maintain strict cleanliness of coffee equipment, work areas, and seating following food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
- Store food and beverage products properly and perform regular cleaning and maintenance on all café equipment.
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions or service issues.
- Handle payments accurately, balance cash floats, and manage sales and inventory records as required.
- Collaborate effectively with the Food & Beverage and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service, supporting colleagues during busy times and events.
- Contribute to café promotions, seasonal menu introductions, and training sessions, embracing continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Barista certification or coffee training is advantageous.
- At least 1 to 2 years of barista experience in cafés, restaurants, hotels, or specialty coffee shops.
- Prior experience in hospitality or hotel settings is preferred.
- Experience with pre-opening activities is considered a plus.
