Position Overview
Our Gladstone Sun Valley location is seeking a driven and industrious leader to support the head of the bakery department. Reporting to the Bakery Manager, the Assistant Manager will oversee a small team, manage rostering, handle ordering and stocktaking, and perform various operational duties within a competitive supermarket environment.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Manage and lead a bakery team effectively, fostering productivity and motivation.
- Create accurate and efficient staff rosters.
- Generate orders to maintain appropriate stock levels and manage costs.
- Conduct stock takes to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Apply thorough knowledge of gross profit calculations to maintain financial performance.
- Demonstrate a hands-on approach with enthusiasm and passion for the work.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and satisfaction.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with team and management.
- Use merchandising skills to maximize product display and appeal.
- Coach, train, and manage team performance responsibly.
- Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge in fresh food retail is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong leadership qualities with abilities in delegation and team management.
- Competence in rostering and cost control mechanisms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for customer service and team development.
