Role Overview
We are looking for a Baker to join our shops located at Metropolis at Metrotown and Robson St in Vancouver. This position entails responsibilities in both bakery production and customer service to ensure excellent product quality and a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake specialty products adhering to the company's recipes and procedures.
- Measure and prepare ingredients required for daily baking tasks.
- Support the opening and closing bakery routines.
- Keep bakery equipment and workspaces clean and organized.
- Restock ingredients, packaging materials, and supplies.
- Assist with inventory tracking and control measures.
- Maintain bakery equipment and ensure sanitation standards are met.
- Deliver courteous and professional service to customers.
- Handle transactions accurately at the register.
- Assist customers with product selections and answer their inquiries.
Qualifications
- Educational background includes college, CEGEP, or equivalent diploma or certificate (1 to 2 years), preferably in Culinary Arts, Baking, or Pastry.
- A minimum of one year experience in baking or food production.
Skills & Requirements
- Understand baking techniques, terminology, and production workflows.
- Proficiency in preparing specialty baked goods.
- Capability to identify and troubleshoot bakery production challenges.
- Experience with Japanese ingredients or traditional Japanese pastries is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to multitask.
- Capacity to work efficiently in fast-paced, warm kitchen settings.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for long stretches.
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability.
Additional Assets
- Possession of a Food Handler Certificate (necessary for potential career advancement).
- Residence within a reasonable commuting distance to the workplace.
Work Schedule
- Full-time engagement with a minimum of 40 hours weekly, five days per week.
- Shifts may commence as early as 7:00 AM and end as late as 10:00 PM depending on store requirements.
- Availability to work on statutory holidays is required.
- At least one closing shift weekly and one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) per week.

- Hourly wage set at $17.85.
