Role Overview

Join Atlassian’s engineering teams based in Sydney, such as Jira Server, Jira Cloud, and Growth. As an experienced developer, you will contribute your expertise in one or more technology stacks while continuing to develop new skills. While the role primarily involves coding in Java, Atlassian also embraces other technologies including Kotlin, Python, and Ruby, recognizing the importance of using the most appropriate tools for each task.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects independently, from initial technical design through to deployment.
• Implement architectural standards and integrate them into new initiatives.
• Participate in code reviews, compose documentation, and handle complex bug fixes.
• Develop useful technical documentation and progressively enhance Java coding skills.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications

• No requirement to have prior experience in Java, but familiarity with widely-used languages such as Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or Ruby is essential.
• Strong foundational knowledge of data structures, their implementation, and practical application to problem-solving.
• Enthusiasm for teamwork, engaging with challenging problems, and a willingness to ask questions.
• Commitment to continual development both as a software engineer and a collaborative team player.
