Principal Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Address the largest and most technically challenging problems within the team, overseeing projects from design through to delivery.
• Create backend solutions leveraged across multiple teams and product lines.
• Develop strategic plans for tackling significant projects.
• Confront and solve complex architectural issues by applying and advancing organizational architectural standards.
• Lead thorough code reviews and documentation efforts, as well as troubleshoot critical high-risk bugs.
• Establish and uphold high standards for comprehensive and meaningful code review practices.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams on company-wide initiatives spanning various projects.
• Leverage and expand expertise in programming languages to enhance software engineering outcomes.
• Mentor and support junior engineers to foster professional growth.

Qualifications

• Possess over a decade of experience in multiple hands-on leadership roles within software or technology, managing the full lifecycle of software development.
• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, ideally in Computer Science or a related discipline, or possess equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrate proficient expertise in one or more major programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala.
• Have practical knowledge of the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS sectors, including working experience with leading public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Capable of assessing trade-offs involving software correctness, robustness, performance, memory, and processing time.
• Experienced in guiding engineers and influencing key decision-makers across an organization.
• Make technical decisions with prioritized consideration for customer impact.
• Background in enhancing Developer Experience or improving Developer Productivity.
• Skilled in Java or NodeJS development, with additional proficiency in at least one other programming language.
• Hands-on experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices.
