Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Azure SQL Server Developer to join our Hyderabad office. This role requires a professional with strong collaboration skills who excels at addressing real-world challenges and has extensive hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server on Azure Cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and scripts on Azure SQL.
- Lead troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning efforts on MS SQL Server databases.
- Design scalable database schemas suited for high-transaction and large-volume Azure SQL applications.
- Work closely with application developers to optimize schema design, including tables, indexes, and relationships to meet performance goals.
- Create, debug, and optimize complex SQL components ensuring efficient data processing.
- Identify and resolve SQL Server bottlenecks; apply index fragmentation fixes and perform comprehensive server tuning.
- Use profiling and performance tuning tools such as SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, Query Store, and Wait Stats for query optimization.
- Configure and manage Azure PaaS databases including single databases, elastic pools, and managed instances.
- Understand and apply knowledge of Azure SQL pricing models like DTU/eDTU and vCore models.
- Manage Azure SQL Elastic Jobs and Run Books deployment.
- Deploy SQL changes across hundreds of databases as part of product release cycles.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks including rebuilding/reorganizing indexes and updating statistics.
- Create alerts, monitor activity logs, and troubleshoot issues using Azure Portal, Log Analytics, and SQL Insights.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum environments and coordinate with developers, product owners, and QA teams.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience developing complex T-SQL queries and SQL Server database objects.
- Extensive expertise in MS SQL Server troubleshooting, debugging, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices.
- Experience using SQL performance and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds SQL Sentry, SQL Profiler, Dynatrace, and Redgate.
- In-depth knowledge of Azure Cloud PaaS offerings, including Azure SQL Database configurations and scaling strategies.
