AWS Data Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a prominent organization in the Asia-Pacific region, seeks an experienced Data Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on designing and implementing robust, scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures leveraging AWS cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT workflows utilizing AWS services such as Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, and S3.
• Design and manage data lakehouse solutions built on Apache Iceberg or S3 table formats, incorporating capabilities like schema and partition evolution alongside ACID transactional support.
• Optimize data pipelines to maximize performance, reduce costs, and ensure high reliability at scale.
• Establish and operate automated frameworks for data quality checks with relevant metrics and continuous monitoring to guarantee data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
• Implement and uphold data governance policies ensuring compliance across the data infrastructure.
• Produce production-ready code and deploy it within AWS cloud environments.
• Adopt DevOps practices including continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) and infrastructure automation via Terraform or CloudFormation tools for consistent and auditable deployments.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and effectively convey technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience & Requirements

• A relevant degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Professional experience of 3 to 5 years in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or data platform roles.
• Proven hands-on expertise with AWS ecosystem services and strong knowledge of Apache Iceberg or equivalent open table formats.
• Preferred possession of AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
• Capability to architect and support scalable and reliable data pipelines using contemporary data lakehouse technologies including Apache Iceberg and S3 tables.
• Effective team collaboration and clear communication of complex technical concepts to stakeholders without a technical background.
