Job Overview

The Automotive Technician role involves carrying out fundamental vehicle maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repair activities following established technical guidelines and safety protocols. This position supports the maintenance unit to keep vehicles in optimal operating condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance adhering to approved schedules and instructions.
• Inspect vehicles to detect mechanical and electrical faults ranging from basic to intermediate levels.
• Diagnose issues and perform necessary repairs or replace components as appropriate.
• Service vehicle mechanical elements such as engines, braking systems, suspension, steering, and related parts.
• Carry out removal, replacement, and repair tasks on basic electrical and mechanical parts as needed.
• Utilize workshop and diagnostic tools and equipment safely and properly.
• Work strictly according to technical manuals, maintenance guidelines, and operational instructions.
• Accurately record maintenance activities, inspection data, and other technical documentation.
• Perform functional verifications and routine testing following maintenance work.
• Maintain a tidy, orderly, and safe workshop environment.
• Adhere fully to safety, environmental, quality, and maintenance standards.
• Report complex or unresolved technical challenges to higher-level technicians.
• Assist senior technicians during major repair tasks as required.
• Ensure timely completion of all allocated maintenance jobs within quality standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Technical Certification in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
• Between 1 and 3 years of practical experience in automotive or vehicle maintenance and repair operations.
• Exposure to automotive workshop environments, dealerships, fleet operators, or transportation maintenance settings.
• Basic competencies in mechanical systems of both light and heavy vehicles.
• Fundamental understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
• Practical familiarity with automotive repair tools and workshop apparatus.
• Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, maintenance protocols, and procedural instructions.
• Awareness of occupational health and safety standards within workshop environments.
• Experience handling heavy-duty, military, tactical vehicles, or industrial machinery is a plus.
• Experience within military or defense maintenance facilities is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) or fleet maintenance operations is beneficial.
• Competence in vehicle inspection and preventative maintenance schemes.
