Automotive Engineer

Role Overview

The Automotive Engineer takes charge of the design, development, testing, upkeep, and enhancement of automotive systems, components, and overall vehicle functionality. This position supports varied engineering projects by performing technical evaluations, diagnosing vehicle-related problems, and ensuring all automotive products and systems abide by quality benchmarks, technical specifications, safety protocols, and industry regulations.

The role requires close collaboration with engineering, production, quality assurance, maintenance teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to boost vehicle dependability, operational productivity, product excellence, and performance.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist with the design, testing, development, and assessment of automotive parts, systems, and full vehicle assemblies.
• Conduct inspections, performance tests, troubleshooting, and thorough technical analyses on automotive systems.
• Evaluate engineering blueprints, technical specifications, component designs, and relevant product documents.
• Diagnose and resolve technical challenges affecting vehicle performance, mechanical and electrical systems, and automotive parts.
• Support vehicle testing, validation procedures, quality inspections, and continuous product enhancement efforts.
• Analyze test data and engineering results to optimize product reliability, safety, efficiency, and performance.
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, maintenance, procurement, and suppliers on engineering issues.
• Assist in applying engineering modifications, product updates, and continuous improvement strategies.
• Ensure all automotive engineering work and products comply with industry standards, safety mandates, and company policies.
• Prepare thorough technical reports, test documentation, engineering records, and status updates on projects.
• Support prototype creation, product trials, component evaluations, and improvements in manufacturing processes.
• Work with suppliers and technical teams to address component quality and engineering challenges.
• Monitor project timelines, technical specifications, and deliverables to meet deadlines.
• Perform additional engineering tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills Required

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
• Prior exposure to automotive engineering, vehicle upkeep, production, product development, or quality control is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Fundamental understanding of automotive systems such as engines, transmissions, braking, suspension, and electrical/electronic vehicle systems.
• Capability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, technical specs, and automotive service manuals.
• Familiar with automotive testing methods, diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting, and quality assurance protocols.
• Knowledgeable about automotive industry standards, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with CAD tools or automotive diagnostic software is advantageous.
• Strong analytical abilities paired with technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication, coordination, and teamwork competencies.
• Keen attention to details, proactive mindset, and capacity to handle multiple priorities within deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively alongside cross-functional teams.
