Role Overview
The Financial Services Audit Senior based in Auckland will be part of the expanding Financial Services Audit & Assurance team. This role involves close collaboration with Managers and Partners to lead audit and assurance projects within financial services, focusing on clients who operate within complex regulatory frameworks and high-profile sectors. You will oversee important audit components, mentor junior members of the team, build lasting client relationships, and advance your technical skills in financial services assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and complete audit and assurance engagements for financial service entities.
- Lead fieldwork activities and supervise junior colleagues, offering guidance and support.
- Identify, analyze, and evaluate critical business, financial reporting, and regulatory risks.
- Assess accounting systems, control environments, and operational procedures, recommending improvements where needed.
- Prepare thorough audit documentation and deliverables, including financial statements and governance reports.
- Maintain and cultivate client relationships with ongoing communication throughout engagements.
- Ensure all audit work meets professional standards, organizational quality benchmarks, and internal audit methodologies.
- Collaborate with Managers and Partners to ensure excellent client outcomes.
- Foster a positive team environment and contribute to the professional growth of less experienced team members.
Experience and Qualifications
- Three to five or more years of audit experience within professional services.
- Prior experience auditing financial services firms, regulated entities, or clients with complex audits is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Possession of or progress towards Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), or ACCA certification, or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of audit processes and accounting standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client engagement.
- A proactive and motivated attitude with a genuine passion to develop expertise in financial services assurance.
