Role Summary

The Attendance Officer will work in partnership with the Assistant Principal to uphold high standards of attendance, fostering an inclusive and safe atmosphere that promotes positive relationships and effective learning. This role requires delivering excellent administrative support to enable teachers to focus on teaching and support students' learning journeys.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement attendance policies aligned with the Assistant Principal's vision of excellence.
• Support the creation of a safe and inclusive environment conducive to student success.
• Provide efficient administrative services that allow teachers to concentrate on their educational roles.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum GCSE qualifications including Maths and English at Grade C/5 or higher.
• Basic First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Understanding of current Department for Education attendance guidance and legal requirements.
• Familiarity with persistent and severe absences and attendance intervention strategies.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge including identification of welfare concerns and appropriate response actions.
• Insight into attendance barriers and methods to support vulnerable learners.
• Experience analyzing attendance data from multiple sources and compiling related reports.
• Proven experience working collaboratively with parents and carers to enhance student attendance.
• Competence in managing difficult conversations in a professional and constructive way.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information properly.
• Experience collaborating with multiple agencies and understanding referral procedures.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for diverse stakeholder groups.

Other Information

• Location: Blackburn with Darwen, UK, specifically Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio.
• Contract: Permanent, 40 weeks per year including term time, INSET days, and 2 additional weeks.
• Salary Scale: SCP 14 to SCP 17, actual pro-rata salary between £26,059 and £27,376.
• Working Pattern: Full-time during the school term and designated weeks.
