Associate Solicitor - Financial Services Regulatory

About the Position and Company

This role is with an international law firm based in Dublin, celebrated for its focused and dedicated financial services regulatory practice. Unlike generalist corporate teams, this practice group specializes exclusively in financial services regulation. The Dublin office is intentionally small, with seasoned partners boasting experience across private practice, in-house banking, and regulatory authorities. The clientele includes banks, MiFID entities, asset managers, funds, payment and e-money institutions, virtual asset service providers (VASPs), retail lenders, and insurance companies. The position supports hybrid working arrangements, with an expectation of three days onsite weekly.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide counsel to Irish and global financial services clients on Irish and EU regulatory regimes, particularly relating to MiFID, MAR, DORA, ESG, anti-money laundering (AML), and business conduct standards.
• Manage projects involving Central Bank authorizations and licensing, implement regulatory changes, and offer compliance and scope advice directed at fintechs, payment institutions, and virtual asset service providers.
• Engage in both advisory and contentious regulatory matters, including supervisory interactions, investigations, and enforcement proceedings.

Candidate Profile

• Solicitor admitted in Ireland with 2 to 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in financial services regulation gained through roles at top-tier Irish or international law firms, financial institutions, or regulatory agencies.
• Strong aptitude for technical and legal drafting, analytical reasoning, coupled with commercial awareness.
• Motivation to take early ownership in responsibilities and build professional profile within a compact and specialized team.
