Associate / Principal Hydrologist

About the Role

Pegasus Group is searching for an experienced Associate or Principal Hydrologist to join our Environmental Engineering team. While we currently have team members located in Cirencester, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Solent, and Cambridge, candidates at any Pegasus office location will be considered. This position is pivotal for our strategic expansion plans.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead and execute environmental engineering projects across sectors such as residential developments, renewable energy, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and calculations. Additionally, you will provide leadership in project management, technical guidance, mentoring team members, and ensuring quality control. The Associate role will include additional duties focused on generating income. You will also engage in client communications and stakeholder management, supporting our Director in team growth, marketing, and business development activities.

Technical Specialisms Required

• Surface water and flood management expertise with solid foundational knowledge.
• Specialised knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  • Water Quality and the Water Framework Directive
  • Water Resources and Nutrient Neutrality
  • Groundwater and Hydrogeology
  • Hydrology and Hydraulic Modelling
  • Restoration and Nature-Based Solutions

Candidate Requirements

• Proven technical expertise delivering surface water and flood management consultancy including technical reporting, calculations, and drawings.
• A distinct technical specialism beyond Flood Risk Assessment and drainage strategies.
• Experience managing multiple projects, budgets, and timelines.
• A minimum of six years of relevant post-education experience; candidates with more extensive experience will be considered for the Associate level.
• Chartership with a relevant professional body such as CIWEM or equivalent.
• Excellent leadership qualities, a collaborative approach, and experience mentoring other professionals.
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder engagement skills.
