Job description
About Ruumi Studio
Ruumi Studio is a design and architecture firm operating in Dublin and Manchester with a presence in London. Established in early 2026 as a spin-off from an international real estate company, it launched with an active portfolio and proprietary design knowledge, enabling immediate project work without the usual startup delays. In its inaugural year, the firm has completed over 250,000 sq ft of projects and earned four award nominations.
The firm's projects are about integrated interiors design, not simply decoration, with a focus on commercial fit-out (about half of work), heritage and deep retrofit (a quarter), and the balance covering aviation, industrial, and workplace environments. An additional notable asset is their owned furniture dealership, Indi, which improves specification flexibility and client budget responsiveness.
Working Environment and Culture
In September, the studio is relocating to a self-contained two-floor mews in Lad Lane, Dublin 2, including the Indi showroom on the ground floor. The setup is designed thoughtfully by the firm itself to support the workplace needs of the team.
The company provides a nine-day fortnight schedule for employees, meaning every alternate Friday off from day one, aiming to prevent burnout common in the industry. This benefit applies immediately, no probation required.
Role Expectations
The primary must-have for candidates is strong proficiency in Revit, specifically the ability to model, detail, and coordinate independently. The studio does not consider candidates who rely on SketchUp and hope for the best. Additionally, the ideal applicant demonstrates a naturally curious and investigative mindset, eager to explore and understand materials, systems, or design challenges deeply.
Preferred Experience and Qualities
- Background in commercial office, workplace, or fit-out projects (majority of firm’s work).
- Experience with FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) specifications and a constructive opinion on them, as this role offers substantial influence in that area.
- Experience incorporating AI tools to enhance design or documentation workflows is a plus, aligning with the studio’s forward-looking practice.
- Comfortable working with existing and historic building fabrics, reflecting a quarter of the project types.
- While professional membership is welcome, it is not mandatory due to the lack of an official interior design register in Ireland.
Compensation
The salary range for Senior/Associate level positions between 0,0000,000 per year, based strictly on capability rather than tenure. Advancement and pay increases are tied to the ability to work independently, dictate specifications authoritatively, and effectively represent work to clients.
Additional Benefits and Career Development
- The nine-day fortnight schedule mentioned above.
- Early and genuine responsibilities on active projects.
- Direct access to the company directors and manufacturing partners.
- A clear leadership development pathway for senior and associate roles leading to broader responsibilities across the studio and dealership.
- Pending B Corp certification submission in early 2027, emphasizing the company's commitment to social and environmental standards.
Logistics
The role is based at the Lad Lane studio in Dublin 2, requiring onsite presence at least three days per week under a hybrid working model.
Application Instructions
Applicants are encouraged to learn about the team they would join in advance. They should submit a CV and portfolio (PDF under 10MB) including a brief reflection paragraph on a past material, product, or specification error and the lessons learned from it. This reflection will be reviewed before the cover letter.
