Associate Director - Aviation

Overview

WSP Middle East is looking for a seasoned Associate Director for Aviation based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role supports the Aviation Director by steering the sector's strategic expansion, enhancing operational standards, and overseeing project execution throughout the Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Aviation Director in catalyzing strategic growth and establishing the aviation sector's market presence within KSA.
• Engage in strategic planning, market assessments, and the discovery of fresh aviation market opportunities.
• Help formulate sector strategies that align with regional priorities, client needs, and WSP’s overall goals.
• Participate actively in business development, including managing bids, client presentations, and fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Contribute senior expertise toward proposals, fee structuring, and technical positioning in the sector.
• Exercise oversight and strategic guidance on significant aviation projects ensuring high standards in delivery, quality, safety, and compliance.
• Support project teams in risk management, issue resolution, and accomplishing program objectives.
• Champion technical excellence by promoting best practices, innovation, and continuous advancements across all aviation initiatives.
• Lead capability building efforts including mentoring senior staff and nurturing technical talent.
• Support governance processes by ensuring adherence to internal protocols, client expectations, and conducting assurance reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Aviation, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or professional chartered status is advantageous.
• At least 15 years of experience predominantly within the aviation or related infrastructure sector.
• Demonstrated track record in senior leadership roles such as Associate Director, Director, or Senior Manager.
• Significant professional experience in the Middle East region, especially Saudi Arabia.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation sector clients, project delivery methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
• Expertise in managing senior stakeholder relationships and business development processes, including bidding and negotiations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
