Associate / Associate Director – Building Technology Systems

About the Role

WSP Middle East is expanding its Building Technology Systems team within the Property & Buildings division based in Saudi Arabia. We are looking for an Associate or Associate Director to support and lead the design and delivery of smart building solutions, ICT design, ELV systems, and Creative Audio Visual technologies on prominent projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and active involvement in designing ICT and building technology systems, such as structured cabling, data networks, Wi-Fi, security (CCTV, access control), BMS integration, IPTV, and telecommunications.
• Prepare detailed design outputs including drawings, schematics, technical specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated design and seamless integration of technology systems.
• Design and assess Creative AV systems including digital signage, video walls, control rooms, and meeting room AV setups.
• Offer technical expertise on AV system layouts, acoustic design, equipment choice, signal flow, and system optimization.
• Collaborate extensively with architects, interior designers, and client experience groups to create innovative and user-focused AV environments.
• Contribute to shaping smart building frameworks integrating ICT and building technology systems.
• Integrate Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and digital platform technologies into unified design solutions.
• Ensure all designs adhere to relevant international standards and guarantee interoperability of systems.
• Support project delivery through planning, reporting, client presentations, and coordination with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies during design and construction stages.
• Conduct site inspections, evaluate technical submissions, and assist in testing and commissioning phases.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
• More than 12 years of experience in building technology, ICT, ELV, or AV system design.
• Demonstrated experience leading Creative AV system design on building or mixed-use projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international standards including TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEC, ISO, and AVIXA.
• Excellent skills in communication, presentation, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Consultancy experience in the Middle East region is considered advantageous.
