Role Overview
The Associate - Commercial Manager will take charge of the post-contract commercial management for various residential villa and mid-rise projects across the UAE. The position demands proficiency in FIDIC Red Book contracts, cost reporting, cash flow supervision, variation handling, change control, contractual adjudications, and advisory services. The associate will spearhead commercial teams, offer strategic support to clients, and ensure successful commercial and contractual outcomes for a portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the commercial team throughout all stages of projects.
- Serve as the main commercial contact for senior representatives from contractors and consultants.
- Oversee contract administration, ensuring adherence to contractual terms.
- Address and resolve complex matters related to commercial, contractual, and claims issues.
- Provide strategic commercial guidance and well-founded advice to project leadership.
- Review, negotiate, and manage commercial submissions, variations, and contract correspondence.
- Facilitate timely commercial decisions to support project objectives and milestones.
- Safeguard the Employer’s commercial and contractual interests.
- Build collaborative relationships with essential stakeholders while upholding commercial governance.
- Identify and manage commercial risks, implementing mitigation plans where necessary.
- Support methods for avoiding and resolving disputes through negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure project success by exercising proactive commercial leadership and control.
- Lead contractual and commercial activities on behalf of the Employer.
- Manage aspects such as cost, contract changes, claims, and overall contract administration.
- Act as a key communication link between project participants regarding commercial matters.
- Advise on commercial issues while protecting the Employer’s interests.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Mandatory MRICS accreditation (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in quantity surveying and commercial management roles.
- Extensive experience in the UAE within residential mid-rise, mixed-use, and community developments.
- Proven capability in managing commercial teams handling multiple projects at once.
- Documented expertise in post-contract management within consultancy, PMC, or client-side organizations.
- Deep knowledge of FIDIC Red Book contracts and post-contract commercial practices.
- Experience in cost reporting, financial oversight, cash flow forecasting, and analysis.
- Strong skills in handling variations, change management, final account negotiations, and claims assessment.
- Competence in contract administration, determinations, commercial risk management, and cost benchmarking.
