About the Role
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) manages detention facilities across the state for individuals in police custody. These include persons denied bail, those awaiting court appearances, and prisoners who are remanded or sentenced until later transfer to youth detention or correctional centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Watchhouse duties involving the management, supervision, and monitoring of detainees and visitors.
- Accurately create and update prisoner files and documentation.
- Operate and oversee electronic surveillance and prisoner movement control systems as per established protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive Watchhouse records compliant with QPS policies and procedures.
- Support the intake process of individuals entering custody following QPS standards.
- Ensure the welfare, comfort, and security of prisoners through effective supervision.
- Document and monitor prisoner health requirements, arranging medical support when necessary.
- Assist senior officers with operational management challenges affecting the Watchhouse environment.
Position Requirements
- Mandatory possession of a valid Open C Class Drivers Licence.
- Wear the Assistant Watchhouse Officer uniform adhering to the QPS dress code.
- Agree to work a rotational shift roster covering 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Additional Information
