Role Overview

The Assistant Store Manager will lead and develop the store team to offer exemplary customer service and assist pet owners in selecting appropriate nutrition and solutions for their pets. The role involves coaching staff, managing daily store operations, and contributing to business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all staff meet customer service standards and foster positive relationships within the local community, including partnerships with organizations like the Humane Society.
  • Manage recruitment, scheduling, training, task delegation, supervision, and coaching of store employees.
  • Enforce adherence to operational standards and corporate procedures among staff.
  • Handle administrative duties such as ordering stock, inventory maintenance, conducting store and safety audits, coordinating minor repairs, and completing required paperwork.
  • Lead team efforts to achieve store business goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in customer service and managing a retail store.
  • Enthusiasm for growth and learning within the pet care sector.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as scheduled and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Reliable transportation access to and from the store location.
  • Capability to coach staff on sales techniques and customer service feedback.
  • Ability to recognize and manage team conflicts, escalating issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Previous industry experience is considered advantageous.
