Overview

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in the store leadership team, partnering closely with the Store Manager to foster a welcoming and productive environment that embodies Boot Barn's mission, vision, and values. This role is central to maintaining exceptional customer service, developing and engaging team members, upholding merchandising standards, managing store operations, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in creating a customer-focused culture that emphasizes service excellence and builds enduring client relationships.
  • Set and review performance goals with staff, offering consistent coaching, constructive feedback, and recognition of achievements, while actively engaging on the sales floor during peak hours.
  • Encourage ongoing learning environments and assist in executing partner training programs to boost operational and merchandising performance; support individual career development within the company.
  • Work with the Store Manager to adapt store operations to evolving business needs, including scheduling, policy training, and communications with district and support center personnel.
  • Identify and communicate the specific needs of local customers to the Store Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to organize and implement local community outreach events aimed at increasing store volume.
  • Guide associates on increasing customer participation in Boot Barn's Credit Card and B Rewarded Loyalty Programs, monitoring individual and team progress.
  • Manage merchandise inventory, presentation standards, and assortment to satisfy customer needs while complying with company visual merchandising policies.
  • Ensure appropriate markdown procedures are followed and all product receipts are processed accurately and timely.
  • Support inventory shrink reduction strategies jointly with the Store Manager and lead these initiatives within the store team.
  • Maintain deep product knowledge across categories, including western boots, work boots, denim, hats, and accessories, and coach partners accordingly.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties adhering to company procedures and uphold the company's time and attendance policies.
  • Comply strictly with all applicable local, state, and federal laws as well as company policies.
  • Exhibit professionalism in communication, attitude, teamwork, attendance, appearance, and overall work quality with customers, co-workers, corporate colleagues, and vendors.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the District Manager or Store Support Center staff.
