Currently, Goodman is experiencing considerable growth in its Data Centre platform, expanding its expertise in managing technically sophisticated, large digital infrastructure projects in New Zealand.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Data Centre Development, the Assistant Project Manager will support all facets of Data Centre project delivery. This hands-on role involves involvement throughout the entire development life cycle: design, procurement, enabling works, construction, commissioning, and handover phases. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing project phases from design through to commissioning and handover.
- Coordinate activities among consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain project documentation, manage action items, generate reports, and oversee document control.
- Support tendering, procurement processes, and contract administration tasks.
- Contribute to cost tracking, forecasting, managing cash flows, and processing payments.
- Coordinate statutory consents including resource and building permits.
- Participate in project meetings and support stakeholder communications, health and safety, and compliance duties.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity is ideal for a motivated Project Coordinator or Assistant Project Manager eager to advance their career in managing technically intricate projects. Candidates with experience in project management consultancies, developers, contractors, or infrastructure sectors who have a robust understanding of construction and project delivery will excel.
While Data Centre experience is not mandatory, enthusiasm for complex projects and the skill to engage with multiple teams and tasks simultaneously are critical.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management or coordination.
- Background in construction, property development, infrastructure, or an allied field.
- Familiarity with project documentation, reporting, administrative tasks, and cost control.
- Ability to liaise confidently with consultants, contractors, and external parties.
- Excellent organizational skills, adept at managing numerous priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with project management and document control systems such as Aconex or Procore.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Benefits
- Join one of New Zealand's leading property and development firms.
- Gain experience within the fast-growing Data Centre and digital infrastructure sector.
- Engage with technically complex, large-scale development initiatives.
- Acquire full lifecycle project exposure and development.
- Collaborate with seasoned professionals in development, design, and delivery.
- Access to ongoing career development within a specialist and expanding team.
