Role Overview

The Assistant Manager - Technical (Academic & Research Writing) is tasked with overseeing a team of academic writers, ensuring the production of well-structured, accurate, plagiarism-free academic content. This involves managing productivity, allocating workload effectively, maintaining quality controls, meeting deadlines, and compiling reports. The role aims to minimize revisions and client complaints while ensuring timely delivery of academic projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support academic writers to meet productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Assign projects based on writers' subject expertise, current workload, and deadlines.
  • Review various academic documents such as essays, reports, case studies, and dissertations for structure and quality.
  • Verify consistency and accuracy in academic referencing formats including APA, Harvard, MLA, and Chicago styles.
  • Ensure plagiarism checks are thoroughly conducted and quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate or perform quality inspections before content delivery.
  • Maintain a balanced workload and consistent engagement across the writing team.
  • Monitor daily productivity metrics like word count, completed assignments, deadlines, and revisions.
  • Track project deadlines to guarantee on-time delivery.
  • Detect patterns in quality issues, revisions, and writer performance gaps.
  • Identify training needs for referencing, formatting, academic structuring, and argument development.
  • Offer continuous feedback and support to writers for performance enhancement.
  • Maintain and update productivity and performance records using Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Compile and present daily and weekly performance reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Adhere to company standard operating procedures, quality standards, and confidentiality policies.
  • Safeguard client information and academic data confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address operational or quality challenges.
  • Drive improvements to team productivity, reduce revision rates and complaints, and ensure punctual delivery.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong background in academic writing, editing, and quality review.
  • Proficient understanding of academic structures and referencing styles (APA, Harvard, MLA, Chicago).
  • Knowledge of plagiarism prevention methods and academic quality benchmarks.

Educational & Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Solid understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Good grasp of core computer science concepts including Data Structures & Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, DBMS, and Operating Systems.
  • Capability to produce well-structured, accurate technical content.
  • Practical experience with coding or software development.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), Markdown, and documentation tools.

Experience

Applicants should have between 1 to 4 years of experience in academic writing, editing, quality checking, or managing academic writers. Previous roles in team leadership, senior academic writing, academic editing, or operations related to academic content production are advantageous.
