Assistant Manager - R&D Tax Incentives

Role Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Manager to become a vital part of our expanding Tax Incentives division. This position involves supporting a wide array of clients from industries such as technology, manufacturing, life sciences, and financial services. Your main responsibility will be facilitating access to significant tax benefits by preparing and submitting claims related to R&D Tax Credits, Capital Allowances, and the Patent Box.

Key Duties

• Oversee the preparation and submission of tax incentive claims for a varied client base.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify qualifying costs and optimize tax benefits.
• Prepare comprehensive financial calculations, schedules, and documentation to support claims.
• Ensure all claims comply fully with HMRC legislation and maintain accuracy and resilience.
• Manage several client projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality work within set timelines.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships while collaborating with the broader Tax team.
• Assist clients in dealing with HMRC inquiries, audits, and compliance procedures.
• Maintain meticulous working documents and audit trails.
• Identify process improvements and contribute to the growth and development of the Tax Incentives practice.

Candidate Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a relevant professional qualification such as CTA, ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent.
• A minimum of two years' experience in preparing or advising on R&D Tax Credits, Capital Allowances, or related tax incentive claims within a professional services or advisory context.
• Strong capability in analyzing financial data and recognizing qualifying expenditures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial modeling techniques.
• Good understanding of financial statements and cost analysis.
• Experience in managing client relationships and engagements.
• Excellent skills in organisation, communication, and problem-solving, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
