About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager of Production to lead and optimize daily manufacturing activities at our facility. The role encompasses supervising production schedules, managing workforce deployment, enhancing process efficiencies, ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards including GMP, HACCP, and FSSAI, and coordinating cross-functional teams to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee daily manufacturing operations to meet established production goals.
- Manage complete production workflows including raw material handling, blending, sieving, packaging, labeling, and dispatch processes.
- Enforce compliance with GMP, HACCP, SOPs, and food safety regulations rigorously.
- Collaborate with Quality Control, Maintenance, Procurement, and Supply Chain departments to ensure smooth production runs.
- Track and improve production efficiency metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce machinery downtime.
- Optimize use of labor, machinery, and materials to minimize waste and cost.
- Audit and verify production documents including Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR), Batch Packing Records (BPR), and daily logs for accuracy and compliance.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve production bottlenecks and enhance quality and efficiency.
- Lead, train, and supervise production staff to maintain discipline, promote productivity, and follow safety protocols.
- Partner with Maintenance to enforce preventive maintenance schedules and reduce equipment failures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting productivity boosts, cost reduction, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety standards and foster a safe workplace culture.
- Prepare regular production reports and performance analyses for management review.
- Support audits from internal teams, clients, and regulators by maintaining comprehensive production records.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemical, Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA in Operations or Production Management is advantageous.
- 3-4 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
- At least 2 years in supervisory or team leadership positions.
- Experience in Nutraceuticals, Food Manufacturing, Health Supplements, Pharmaceuticals, or FMCG sectors preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Deep understanding of food manufacturing, production planning, and batch operations.
- Hands-on experience with packing lines and batch manufacturing processes.
- Solid knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSSAI, hygiene, and food safety protocols.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, Kaizen, CAPA, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to analyze production data and prepare MIS reports using MS Excel and ERP software.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Efficient planning and execution capabilities to meet production targets on schedule.
