Job Overview
The Assistant Manager Loss Prevention supports the daily departmental operations to safeguard property assets, employees, and guests. Key duties include maintaining mandatory logs and certifications, assisting staff training in emergency protocols, and implementing preventive measures related to accidents and fire. The role aims to balance guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operating budget.
Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in security, loss prevention, or related professional fields, or
- A two-year degree in Criminal Justice or a similar discipline combined with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Aid the Director of Engineering in managing fire prevention initiatives and emergency readiness.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments including quarterly OSHA and safety audits, track incidents, and manage hazard mitigation processes at the property.
- Help formulate detailed property shutdown procedures ensuring security during off-hours.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local safety and legal regulations.
- Maintain strict key control protocols within loss prevention and across the property.
- Create monthly inspection checklists for CCTV systems, alarmed entrances, and duress alarms to verify full functionality.
- Incorporate thorough patrols of both interior and exterior property areas including surveillance system reviews.
- Implement Duty of Care policies protecting guests and staff.
- Investigate and follow up on any unusual activities impacting guest or employee welfare.
- Resolve complaints, negotiate disputes, and manage grievances effectively.
- Develop and enforce action plans to monitor and mitigate risks.
- Oversee loss prevention operations such as patrol processes, emergency responses, investigations into guest and employee incidents, shipping/receiving protocols, electronic key systems, and managerial duties during shifts.
- Lead the Accident Prevention Committee's activities.
- Manage the guest and employee first aid programs.
- Supervise claims processes and safeguard company assets by monitoring General Liability and Worker's Compensation claims closely.

- Consistently fulfill quality standards and meet customer expectations.
- Identify and address educational needs by designing and delivering formal training and instruction to others.
- Evaluate and critique the loss prevention department’s performance to uphold professionalism and superior customer service.
- Strive to provide services that exceed customer satisfaction and encourage retention.
Additional Duties
- Analyze data and evaluate outcomes to identify optimal solutions and resolve problems efficiently.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Ensure timely communication of relevant information to executives, peers, and subordinates via multiple channels including phone, written reports, email, and in person.
