Overview
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is an entry-level management role responsible for overseeing the daily operations within Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry departments. The role involves supervising cleaning and maintenance of guestrooms and public areas, conducting inspections, and ensuring corrective actions are taken. The position also focuses on maintaining guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operating budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of OSHA regulations relevant to housekeeping operations.
- Manage lost and found procedures efficiently.
- Prepare daily work assignments based on immediate cleaning needs and anticipated check-outs or discharges.
- Inventory supplies to confirm adequate stock levels.
- Communicate guest room status promptly to the Front Desk team.
- Coordinate with Engineering on maintenance requirements for guest rooms.
- Adhere strictly to loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Ensure all staff have necessary supplies, equipment, and proper uniforms.
- Support an effective inspection program covering guestrooms and public spaces.
- Manage the linen inventory and guest supplies, assisting with procurement when needed.
- Oversee Housekeeping and related departments in the absence of senior management.
- Monitor employee service behavior, providing constructive feedback to enhance service quality.
- Address guest complaints and issues promptly, escalating to supervisors as appropriate.
- Review guest satisfaction feedback and comment cards with staff to improve service standards.
- Exemplify positive customer relations at all times.
Candidate Profile
- Education: High school diploma or GED combined with a minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping or a related area, or
- A 2-year degree from an accredited institution in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a closely related field with no prior work experience required.
