Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, APAC, the Assistant General Counsel acts as a trusted legal consultant to Jet Aviation's APAC operations. This critical role focuses on offering strategic and pragmatic legal counsel spanning commercial contracts, compliance with regulations, corporate governance, and fostering legal capabilities across various business segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice to senior leaders including the Associate General Counsel APAC, Regional Vice Presidents, and General Managers.
- Collaborate with business teams to identify potential legal risks and develop sound, commercially viable solutions.
- Lead and mentor stakeholders involved in contracting processes throughout the APAC region.
- Advance best practices and strengthen legal competency across the organization.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and facilitate the execution of customer contracts (commercial and government) and supplier/vendor agreements in APAC.
- Support compliance and legal aspects related to engaging sales intermediaries.
- Serve as the regional legal liaison with the Company Secretarial team, closely coordinating with finance and tax departments on governance and entity matters.
- Design and implement legal and compliance training aimed at non-legal managers and commercial staff.
- Provide legal guidance on company policies including data privacy, employment law, and foster compliance culture.
- Champion responsible adoption of AI and legal technologies, enhancing efficiency while ensuring policy alignment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or an equivalent accredited four-year law degree.
- Licensed or authorized legal practitioner in good standing; eligibility to practice in Singapore preferred.
- Have at least eight years of significant legal experience, ideally from a top law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Demonstrated competence in drafting, negotiating, and executing commercial contracts.
- Sound knowledge of corporate secretarial duties, governance, and company law applicable in APAC.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities in US English.
- Strong commercial insight with the ability to simplify complex legal matters into actionable business advice.
- Availability to travel within APAC and internationally as needed.
Preferred Skills & Traits
- Prior in-house legal exposure in sectors such as business or commercial aviation, aerospace, defence, or government services.
- Experience with government contracts and their regulations.
- Interest or experience in integrating AI tools and legal technology in corporate legal functions.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Team-oriented approach to resolving complex business and legal issues.
- Confidence in advising and influencing executive-level decision-making.
- Strong leadership qualities and proficiency in stakeholder management.
- Ability to adapt swiftly in a dynamic, international, and multifaceted work environment.
- High integrity, discretion, excellent judgment, and a commitment to ethical business conduct.
