Job description
Role Overview
Prioritizing guest safety and comfort, we seek a seasoned and proactive engineering professional to assist the Director of Engineering in managing the hotel's engineering operations. As Assistant Director of Engineering, you will play a key role in leading and mentoring the engineering team while ensuring maintenance tasks are performed efficiently, safely, and to superior standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily engineering and maintenance activities within the hotel.
- Supervise and coordinate the engineering team, ensuring effective delegation and timely task completion.
- Maintain hotel facilities, equipment, and systems in safe and optimal condition.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, addressing outstanding maintenance issues.
- Support troubleshooting and resolving technical problems across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry domains.
- Ensure adherence to hotel policies, health and safety standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Help manage engineering inventory including supplies, spare parts, tools, ensuring minimal waste.
- Promote energy conservation and environmental sustainability initiatives aligned with hotel goals.
- Address urgent and unforeseen maintenance needs flexibly for seamless hotel operations.
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, guests, and regulators.
- Assist the Director with engineering projects, inspections, reporting, and team performance management.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical discipline; vocational training or relevant experience may be acceptable.
- Experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, or building maintenance fields.
- Demonstrated capability in leading or supervising engineering or maintenance teams.
- Strong technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance strategies and hotel engineering operations.
