Role Overview

At Shoppers Drug Mart in Peterborough, we are seeking an Asset Protection Representative (formerly Loss Prevention) to join one of Canada's most extensive asset protection teams. This role ensures our stores remain safe and welcoming for customers by minimizing product losses through vigilance and proactive security measures.

Responsibilities

• Prevent, identify, and take action against theft and fraud within retail locations.
• Work collaboratively with fellow Asset Protection Representatives to investigate provincial or national Organized Retail Crime (ORC) incidents.
• Maintain regular liaison with local police authorities.
• Conduct internal investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports for court or arbitration proceedings.
• Identify and address potential shrinkage risks related to core operational compliance.
• Develop strong partnerships with store management through meetings and briefings; provide coaching and guidance on Asset Protection policies and procedures.
• Participate in store audits to support compliance efforts.
• Engage in community events representing the company.
• Be available to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, with a 40-hour workweek.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Valid Provincial Security Guard License is mandatory.
• Fundamental knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, Powers of Arrest, and proficiency with CCTV or surveillance systems.
• Familiarity with Windows applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Maintain a professional, approachable, and friendly demeanor.
• Demonstrate high initiative and integrity to succeed in a dynamic retail environment.

Compensation
