Job description

Position Overview

The Asset Protection Associate is vital to ensuring a safe, secure, and professional environment within the store, safeguarding customers, staff, guests, and vendors. This role aims to minimize financial and physical losses, decrease shrinkage, and enhance store profitability by adhering to Asset Protection protocols and exhibiting professional conduct. The role involves vigilance, observation, and collaboration to secure merchandise, people, and the shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily store patrols to maintain a secure and safe environment, ensuring doors, showcases, and security devices operate effectively and taking corrective measures when needed.
  • Conduct investigations related to financial and physical loss incidents, reporting findings to Store Leadership and escalating internal matters to the Market Loss Prevention Manager per company policies.
  • Support or lead investigations into internal theft, external theft, organized retail crime, and cases assigned by Walmart Canada Global Ethics.
  • Assist in executing emergency protocols including store evacuations during incidents like fires or other emergencies, and participate in store task teams to support operations.
  • Carry out external apprehensions in accordance with company and legal standards when required.
  • Collect and communicate information from multiple sources clearly to leadership and stakeholders, providing comprehensive insights.
  • Fulfill additional duties as necessary to align with business needs and evolving Asset Protection goals.
  • Remain flexible by working various shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to sustain smooth operations and consistent customer service.

Challenges Associated With This Role

  • Handle a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment effectively, including overnight shifts, planning to maintain energy and focus.
  • Manage a demanding workload with efficiency to complete restocking and recovery tasks accurately and timely.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Engage in repetitive stocking, zoning, and organizing duties requiring attention to detail and consistency to meet store standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Possess a current and valid Alberta Security Guard License.
