Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Position Overview

Agile Intelligence Secured is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer specializing in OCR, Intelligent Document Processing, and Document Intelligence to join our international SaaS technology firm based in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Area. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site opportunity with a salary range of €80,000–€90,000 gross annually.

Role Focus

The role centers on developing, designing, and enhancing production-level OCR and intelligent document processing solutions embedded within enterprise SaaS products. You will tackle challenges related to:

• Optical Character Recognition and Intelligent Document Processing
• Utilizing Azure Document Intelligence and Form Recognizer
• Creating custom OCR models and pipelines for document extraction
• Document classification and data extraction from structured and unstructured sources
• Image preprocessing to optimize OCR performance
• Enhancing extraction precision and confidence scoring
• Handling document validation and exceptions
• Developing machine learning models for classification and anomaly detection
• Applying Large Language Model-enhanced document comprehension
• Implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Leveraging vector databases and semantic search techniques
• Employing Azure AI Services and Azure Machine Learning
• Building scalable AI pipelines and APIs for production environments

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will possess:

• At least 3 years (preferably over 5 years) of focused commercial experience in AI and machine learning engineering
• Proven expertise in constructing OCR and document processing systems commercially
• Hands-on experience with Azure Document Intelligence, Azure AI Services, or similar OCR platforms
• Ability to develop and refine custom OCR models
• A strong grasp of document classification, data extraction, and validation processes
• Experience addressing OCR accuracy challenges across varied and complex document formats
• Proficiency in image preprocessing and document quality enhancement
• Competence in training, tuning, assessing, and deploying machine learning models
• Advanced Python programming skills
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers, or LangChain
• Integrating AI solutions within APIs, databases, and SaaS platforms
• An understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG frameworks, and vector databases
• A record of transitioning AI initiatives from prototypes to production-ready solutions
• Acommercial mindset, capable of grasping business problems beyond technological application

Educational Background

We prefer candidates who have completed degrees or master’s in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline. Equivalent extensive industry experience with demonstrable AI expertise will be considered.

Who is Not Suited

This opportunity is not intended for software engineers whose primary background is in Java, .NET, backend, or general software engineering with only recent or limited AI experience. We seek seasoned AI professionals with ongoing and substantial involvement in AI, particularly OCR and document intelligence.
