Area Site Technician

About the Role

Omega is partnering with a prominent facilities management company to recruit an experienced Maintenance Electrician for a permanent position based in Southampton. The successful candidate will work on supermarket contracts, focusing on the upkeep and repair of diverse electrical and mechanical systems in retail locations. Regular planned visits to various stores are required to perform reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and minor non-electrical repairs as requested by the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks within designated deadlines, ensuring all related records are accurately maintained.
• Provide both reactive and scheduled maintenance services on catering and bakery machinery.
• Conduct testing, maintenance, and repairs on emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
• Carry out general building repairs and upkeep across customer facilities as needed.
• Identify faults in plant and equipment, distinguish non-repairable items, and suggest appropriate replacement options.
• Ensure all tasks are performed safely and efficiently while complying with applicable regulations and standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2, or an equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
• Possess City & Guilds 18th Edition certification.
• Have AM2 and/or 2391 certification.
• Demonstrate proven experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or retail settings.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

• Hold a valid UK driving licence.
• Experience using PDA or mobile job management systems.
• Skilled in maintaining and repairing a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, including commercial catering and bakery appliances.
• Experienced in performing PPM and reactive maintenance in retail or multi-site environments.
• Strong abilities in fault diagnosis and problem resolution.
• Excellent communication skills complemented by a customer-focused approach.
