Role Overview

As an Automation Applications Engineer, you will manage the entire proposal process, from reviewing customer requirements to finalizing solution designs, budgets, and timelines. The position involves close collaboration with customers and sales teams to develop competitive technical proposals that meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to define requirements, generate concepts, develop cost estimates, and present proposals.
• Support sales strategies through effective technical engagement.
• Own the full proposal lifecycle, including concept creation, technical design, costing, and customer interactions.
• Lead technical alignments with sales and management teams.
• Present technical concepts to highlight competitive advantages to customers.
• Assist internal proposal teams and maintain documentation of technical requirements and project risks.
• Ensure seamless handoffs to operations for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Adhere to standardized quoting processes and presentation formats.
• Utilize various tools such as proposal templates, cost worksheets, CAD software, compliance matrices, and FAT/SAT criteria.
• Leverage cross-business expertise and knowledge-sharing platforms like SharePoint or MS Teams.
• This field-based role will be fully remote within Southern Ireland.

Qualifications and Experience

• HND or degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of experience in automation, preferably in Life Sciences.
• Experience in quoting, sales, and customer relations.
• Proficiency in reading mechanical design drawings and customer part prints.
• Capability to develop 2D and 3D CAD concepts using SolidWorks, Inventor, or Visual Components.
• Track record of collaborating with project teams and customers to design and estimate complete systems.
• Strong understanding of cost factors including timelines, materials, labor, and tooling.
• Preferred knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control architectures.
