Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Automation Applications Engineer to join our team remotely from Southern Ireland. Your role involves leading the review and interpretation of customer requirements, developing tailored technical solutions, preparing accurate budgets, and managing project proposals. You will play a key part in coordinating project timelines and aligning mechanical and operational concepts to deliver integrated systems that meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with customers to define requirements, generate solution concepts, estimate costs, and present proposals.
• Partner with sales teams to develop winning strategies and support business growth.
• Manage the entire proposal lifecycle, including concept development, technical design, costing, and proposal creation.
• Lead technical alignment efforts amongst sales and management teams.
• Communicate concepts and competitive advantages effectively to clients.
• Support internal proposal design teams and enhance processes.
• Document technical requirements and project risks, oversee project plans and changes.
• Act as a technical advisor and engage with customers at all organizational levels as necessary.
• Ensure smooth handover to operations teams for ongoing support and maintenance.
• Adhere to standardized quoting processes and utilize various proposal templates, cost worksheets, CAD tools, compliance matrices, and FAT/SAT criteria.
• Leverage resources such as technical writers, simulation/CAD specialists, and internal knowledge-sharing platforms.

Qualifications and Experience

• Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree in Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of five years in the automation industry, preferably with experience in Life Sciences sectors.
• Proven abilities in quoting, sales support, and customer engagement.
• Competence in interpreting mechanical designs and customer part documentation.
• Skills in developing 2D and 3D CAD concepts using SolidWorks, Inventor, or Visual Components.
• Experience collaborating with project teams and clients to design and cost full automation systems.
• Knowledge of cost drivers including timelines, materials, labor, and tooling.
• Preferred understanding of electrical and pneumatic control architectures.
