Application Support Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Application Support Specialist to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of our essential enterprise systems, including our aviation MRO platform and a live ERP system implementation. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between end-users and vendors, while also supporting our AI and automation initiatives focused on enhancing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, configure, test, and support enterprise applications to maximise uptime and performance.
• Manage daily operations of the aviation MRO software alongside Engineering, Maintenance teams, and vendors to guarantee system availability and data integrity.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of the ERP system implementation, including configuration, data migration, integration, testing, defect resolution, and post-launch stabilisation.
• Bridge communication between users and vendors; gather and document business requirements, operational workflows, and access controls.
• Provide first- and second-line application support along with basic training for users.
• Create enhancements, interfaces, and integrations connecting various enterprise systems.
• Design, develop, integrate, and test AI tools supporting the company's AI initiatives.
• Prepare and curate data sets for AI and machine learning use cases, identifying opportunities for AI-enabled improvements.
• Integrate AI, large language models, machine learning services, and APIs into enterprise applications.
• Evaluate and prototype new software or AI tools, facilitating adoption of approved technologies.
• Develop ad-hoc and scheduled reports using Microsoft SQL Server and SSRS, including data extraction from MRO systems.
• Create and optimise SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
• Conduct statistical and strategic analyses to support business decision-making.
• Maintain thorough technical and functional documentation such as configuration notes, test cases, and user guides.
• Manage open issues, providing updates to IT leadership and escalating when necessary.
• Adhere strictly to Information Security, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and organizational policies and regulations.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, supplemented by technical and AI/ML certifications.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in IT application or enterprise systems support, ideally within the aviation industry.
• Hands-on experience supporting or deploying ERP systems.
• Demonstrated expertise with recognised aviation MRO software, including report and data extraction development.
• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Practical experience and certifications in AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI, including large language model integration, automation, and data preparation projects.
• Familiarity with systems such as Veryon Rusada (MRO) and Oracle Fusion (ERP) or equivalent platforms.
