API Developer

Position Overview

CGI is seeking a seasoned Java Backend Developer to join the Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, supporting a leading financial institution based in the U.S. This role focuses on delivering innovative backend digital solutions for a global enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend business logic primarily using Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Design, implement, and integrate RESTful APIs aligning with enterprise architecture standards.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve seamless backend integration and ensure timely delivery using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Containerize backend services and manage their deployment utilizing Docker and OpenShift Container Platform.
• Apply DevOps best practices to automate testing, integration, and deployment processes.
• Handle version control effectively through Git.
• Diagnose, debug, and optimize application performance to meet high-quality standards.
• Engage in technical design and architectural discussions, promoting best practices in backend development.
• Manage database design and administration, including performance tuning and bug resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Proven expertise in Java backend development with strong skills in Java 8 and newer versions.
• Deep experience in Spring Framework and Spring Boot for backend applications.
• Sound understanding and hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
• Proficient in developing RESTful APIs to facilitate reliable communication between services.
• Experience using Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks like Hibernate or JPA.
• Strong grasp of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, design patterns, and adherence to SOLID principles.
• Experience working with a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with version control systems, predominantly Git.
• Knowledge of exception handling, logging frameworks, and backend performance optimization techniques.
