Job description
Overview
This position requires a maintenance worker to perform various upkeep tasks in residential apartment or condominium complexes located in multiple sites. The work is conducted entirely at the physical location with no remote option available.
Languages and Education
- Proficient in English
- Completion of college-level, CEGEP, or other non-university diploma/certificate programs lasting 1 to 2 years
Experience and Work Setting
- Minimum 3 years and less than 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in cleaning and maintenance of residential facilities, including knowledge of paints and wallpaper
- Work environment includes apartment/condominium complexes across various locations
Key Responsibilities
- Clean hallways, floors, stairs by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing
- Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to clear dirt, debris, and scraps
- Empty all trash receptacles and waste bins
- Wash windows, walls, and ceilings inside the building
- Perform minor maintenance and adjustments on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, while arranging for major repairs via contractors
- Advertise vacancies and show apartments or offices to prospective tenants
- Contact and liaise with contractors for maintenance services
- Fix minor appliance issues
- Carry out safety and security inspections
- Assist in moving heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment
- Execute routine repairs such as painting and drywall maintenance
- Maintain and water plants, lawns, and gardens
- Clean and sanitize bathroom areas and fixtures
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during winter
Tools and Equipment
- Utilize power tools appropriately for maintenance tasks
Additional Work Conditions and Requirements
- Must successfully pass a criminal record check
- Possess valid driver's license and have reliable personal transportation
- Capacity to work under pressure and perform physically demanding tasks involving repetitive motions such as bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Able to handle loads weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Own necessary tools and equipment to perform duties
