Anesthesia Consultant

Overview

The Anesthesia Consultant is responsible for performing comprehensive assessments and managing patients based on evidence-supported approaches, strictly adhering to established standards of care, as well as Fakeeh Care's policies and bylaws.

Key Duties

• Execute clinical duties within the scope of assigned privileges.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients including clinical, socioeconomic, psychological, and functional elements, and ensure proper documentation in medical records.
• Formulate evidence-based patient care plans following accepted care standards, with documentation in patient records.
• Ensure timely implementation of all patient care plans established by the consultant.
• Serve as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for all inpatients admitted under their name.
• Develop discharge plans on admission day for inpatients and engage discharge-planning services early when appropriate.
• Perform daily assessments for admitted inpatients under their care, documenting findings and plans in SOAP format progress notes.
• Respond promptly to medical consultation requests.
• Record all medical interventions performed expediently.
• Follow Fakeeh Care's documentation standards rigorously.
• Complete and authenticate discharge summaries in a timely manner, ensuring patient discharge instructions and medication education are delivered.
• Participate in facility duties and respond to departmental call schedules.
• Attend departmental and staff meetings contributing suggestions for enhancing productivity and patient satisfaction.
• Prepare and submit timely medical reports following Fakeeh Care guidelines.
• Contribute to teaching rounds and other educational activities as directed by the medical department chairperson.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventative care.
• Carry out additional responsibilities within the scope of the role as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, physicians, and other staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to function effectively in high-pressure environments.

Experience and Education

• Completion of specialized training in anesthesia or related subspecialty at a recognized medical center.
• Attainment of the highest clinical degree available in the specialty from the academic training center.
• Required experience following standards set by the regional health regulatory authority in the specialty area.

Licensing and Language Proficiency

• Valid medical practice license per regional health authorities such as SCFHS or DHA.
• BLS certification and applicable advanced licenses.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
