Role Overview

As an Android Software Engineer focusing on AI applications, you will be responsible for shaping the Android client experience. This is a comprehensive role involving the development of a fully functional Android application where AI functionalities such as interactions, behavior, and performance are central. You will ensure production-level quality, emphasizing performance, reliability, and user clarity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Integrate AI-enabled features including chat, vision, voice, and recommendations through backend APIs.
  • Create user experience designs tailored for AI interactions, managing streaming responses, retries, and partial results.
  • Enhance app performance, optimize memory consumption, and improve responsiveness in AI-intensive workflows.
  • Implement analytical tools, logging mechanisms, and feedback systems to refine AI performance and assist iterative development.
  • Collaborate closely with backend and machine learning engineers to align API contracts and system functionalities.
  • Ensure the application remains stable, secure, and scalable in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Android development using Kotlin.
  • Proven expertise in integrating AI features such as large language models, vision, and speech recognition APIs.
  • Strong grasp of asynchronous programming concepts, particularly Coroutines and Flows.
  • Experience with RESTful or gRPC APIs and handling structured data formats.
  • Skilled in debugging, profiling performance, and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Ability to develop robust applications operating in scenarios with latency, partial failures, and unpredictable behavior.
  • Knowledge of MLKit or lightweight on-device machine learning inference technologies.
  • Published Android applications available on the Google Play Store.
