Role Summary

As a Backend Engineer at Motorway, your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining JavaScript codebase for new functionalities and performance improvements. You will drive enhancements in platform scalability through performance optimization and caching strategies. Your work will involve crafting maintainable, reusable, and reliable software, leveraging AWS infrastructure to ensure excellent performance with effective monitoring and alerting mechanisms.

You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver outstanding user experiences and actively engage in a flat organizational structure by contributing to technical and product strategy discussions. Adhering to software development best practices like testing and code review will be essential.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have professional experience with JavaScript, including ES6/7 syntax, and proficiency in Node.js along with frameworks such as Express and Sequelize. A background in managing both relational and NoSQL databases is required, alongside a solid understanding of web design patterns. Experience within an agile, collaborative development environment is crucial.

Additionally, a passion for transforming industries through technology, eagerness to learn and embrace challenges, adaptability to fast-moving collaborative settings, strong problem-solving skills, and dedication to producing clean, maintainable code are highly valued. Experience with automated testing is advantageous but not mandatory.
