Job description

About the Role

Join a dynamic digital product team dedicated to creating and enhancing customer-facing applications for a vast user base. As an Android Developer, you will significantly influence the mobile user experience by developing state-of-the-art features utilizing Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, delivering robust and accessible applications that users can trust.

Embedded in a cross-functional domain team managing the end-to-end customer journey across Android, iOS, and web platforms, you’ll have the chance to foster seamless, uniform experiences that transcend a single operating system.

While your primary focus will be on Android development, you will also be encouraged to participate in web development projects using Angular and TypeScript, collaborating closely with engineers from diverse technological backgrounds to create optimal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and sustain Android applications that are reliable, efficient, scalable, and accessible.
  • Oversee the full Android development cycle, including planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release monitoring.
  • Work hand-in-hand with developers specializing in Android, iOS, web, and backend to create unified customer experiences.
  • Provide support beyond Android by contributing to web apps developed with Angular and TypeScript when required.
  • Influence product and domain-level technical decisions by prioritizing the holistic customer experience rather than confining focus to a single platform.
  • Manage application releases and monitor app performance, leveraging tools such as Firebase to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements within the Android ecosystem and introduce new technologies, tools, and best engineering practices.
  • Support team growth through activities such as code reviews, mentoring, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage in continuous learning with colleagues across multiple disciplines to foster collaboration and shared responsibility.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of three years of practical experience in Android development using Kotlin, Android SDK, and Jetpack libraries.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Jetpack Compose and contemporary Android development methodologies.
  • Solid grasp of software architecture and design patterns, including Clean Architecture and MVVM.
  • Experience producing maintainable, testable code accompanied by unit, integration, and UI testing.
  • Competency working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and integrating web services.
  • Knowledge of modern development pipelines and CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A good eye for user experience details, focusing on layouts, accessibility, and meaningful user interactions.
  • Interest in expanding technical expertise beyond Android, with eagerness to contribute to web technologies such as TypeScript and Angular; prior experience is a plus but enthusiasm to learn is crucial.
  • Strong proponent of knowledge sharing, inter-disciplinary collaboration, and collective improvement.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency or willingness to learn German is beneficial.
