Job description

Role Overview

Mercy Hospital Dunedin is seeking a skilled Anaesthetic Technician or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join their team. This crucial position involves delivering vital clinical and technical support to Anaesthetists, ensuring the safe administration of anesthesia across diverse medical procedures, and supporting theatre operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert clinical, technical, and professional assistance to Anaesthetists during procedures.
  • Ensure safe administration and management of anaesthesia for patients.
  • Anticipate and address potential challenges while maintaining exceptional patient care standards.
  • Manage and coordinate patient documentation to guarantee effective treatment delivery.
  • Engage actively in quality improvement initiatives and processes to enhance service standards.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent, full-time role (1 FTE) requiring 40 hours weekly arranged as four 10-hour shifts across Monday to Saturday on a roster basis.

Candidate Profile

  • Registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, holding a valid Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Exhibits sound professional judgment combined with culturally safe practice methods.
  • Able to develop effective working relationships and capable of operating independently or collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintains meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, adaptability, and a proactive approach to responsibilities.
