Role Overview

The Digital Healthcare business unit at Analog Devices is seeking an Algorithms Engineer to contribute to developing advanced sensing and imaging technologies for healthcare. These systems combine imaging, optical sensors, measurement electronics, and software to extract accurate information from complex biological data. Core technologies include signal processing, data analytics, machine learning, AI-driven, and physics-based algorithms.

The successful candidate will actively participate in creating and refining key optical biosensing and imaging algorithms. Collaborating closely with algorithm developers, optical engineers, application, and software teams, the engineer will build and test algorithms using real experimental imaging and sensor data. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys deep, focused algorithm design in complex sensing areas where solutions are exploratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage distinct algorithm components throughout conception, development, testing, and refinement stages
  • Create Python-based algorithms and analytical tools for processing complex experimental sensor and imaging datasets
  • Utilize signal processing, statistical modeling, and model-based methodologies to interpret noisy, real-world measurements robustly
  • Employ machine learning and AI techniques to enhance performance, reliability, and interpretability of the data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system behaviors, measurement complexities, and data characteristics
  • Provide insights driven by data analytics to influence system optimization, testing approaches, and decision-making
  • Develop scalable data analysis pipelines and prototype solutions suitable for offline, near-real-time, or production environments
  • Support algorithm verification, evaluate performance metrics, document results, and guide integration into software products and systems

Qualifications

  • BEng, MSc, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of industry experience developing algorithms for sensing, imaging, or data-driven technologies
  • Proficient in algorithm development for sensing, imaging, measurement, or related data-centric systems
  • Strong Python programming skills including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn
  • Solid background in signal processing, data analysis, and model-based approaches to interpret complex experimental datasets
  • Working knowledge of machine learning techniques applicable to sensor, time-series, or imaging data
  • Capability to integrate physical modeling, signal processing, and data-driven approaches in algorithm solutions
  • Keen interest and capability to develop expertise in advanced sensing, imaging, or fluorescence technologies
  • Robust software engineering skills coupled with effective communication and teamwork experience, especially with laboratory or experimental data

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience applying advanced data analytics, machine learning, or AI in medical, biological, or sensor data contexts
  • Familiarity with sophisticated sensing or imaging systems
  • Expertise combining signal processing, model-based estimation, and machine learning within practical systems
  • Knowledge of image processing or deploying algorithmic workflows
  • Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments and structured documentation of technical work

Candidate Profile

We seek an engineer who thrives on tackling open-ended problems requiring innovative, iterative solutions based on experimental feedback. A patient and persistent professional who handles ambiguity and noisy data with a disciplined and focused approach. The candidate should be autonomous in managing algorithm development tasks, iterating rigorously until targets for performance and robustness are achieved. A willingness to learn complex measurement fundamentals and translate these into actionable algorithms is essential.

Additional Information

Applicants, excluding US citizens, residents, and protected individuals, may need to undergo export licensing review to access certain technical data. Analog Devices is committed to equal employment opportunities, fostering an inclusive culture regardless of race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected attributes.
