Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AIX Administrator to support and maintain our AIX and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in both AIX and Linux system administration along with expertise in system patching, troubleshooting, and security hardening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage AIX operating systems including LVM, patching, upgrade (TL/SP), and issue resolution.
  • Handle Linux administration tasks on distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux, focusing on patching and package management.
  • Develop and maintain Shell/Bash scripts to automate processes and system tasks.
  • Manage network services including NFS, SSH, DNS, and TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Perform user, group, filesystem, and permissions management requiring thorough knowledge.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks and resolve operational issues.
  • Implement security best practices including system hardening and vulnerability patching.
  • Work with IBM Power hardware technologies including PowerVM and LPAR virtualization platforms.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Strong practical expertise in AIX system administration.
  • Proven experience managing Linux OS environments such as RHEL, CentOS, or Oracle Linux.
  • Competence with Logical Volume Manager (LVM) on AIX and Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with system patching, technical level upgrades, and troubleshooting on AIX and Linux.
  • Proficient scripting skills with Shell and Bash.
  • Thorough understanding of networking protocols and services such as NFS, SSH, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Knowledgeable in user, group, filesystem, and permission management on Unix/Linux systems.
  • Solid experience in performance monitoring and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience in security hardening and vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with IBM Power architecture, PowerVM, and LPAR technology concepts.
