Position Overview

This permanent full-time kitchen assistant role requires working primarily in English and is based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. No formal educational certificates or diplomas are required, and no prior experience is necessary as comprehensive training will be provided.

Primary Duties

• Sanitize and clean kitchen equipment such as racks, carts, and dishwasher waste grinders.
• Maintain records of food quantities used during operations.
• Restock refrigerators and salad bars to ensure continuous availability.
• Prepare food items by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and cutting using both manual and electric devices.
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect kitchen areas including workstations, storage cabinets, and equipment.
• Receive, unpack, and organize deliveries into refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, and other storage areas.
• Manage waste by removing garbage, emptying trash bins, and ensuring proper disposal.
• Sweep, wipe, wash, wax, and polish floors to maintain cleanliness.
• Process vegetables and fruits by washing, peeling, and cutting as necessary.

Work Conditions and Schedule

• Shifts available include mornings and nights.
• Workdays can be during the day and weekends.
• Typical workload is approximately 32 hours per week.
