Role Overview
The AI Azure Solution Architect will spearhead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale AI and Generative AI solutions using the Microsoft Azure platform. This role involves collaborating with major Australian and New Zealand enterprises to define AI strategies and deploy next-generation AI applications within Azure's rapidly advancing AI ecosystem. The position is based onsite in Auckland, New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design enterprise AI and Generative AI solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Lead execution of Azure AI services including Azure OpenAI and Cognitive Services.
- Create scalable cloud-native AI architectures leveraging Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
- Guide engineering teams on best practices, architectural design, and delivery methodologies for AI solutions.
- Customize and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) tailored for enterprise scenarios.
- Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks utilizing vector databases and Azure Cognitive Search.
- Formulate prompt engineering strategies to enhance AI model outputs.
- Handle large-scale structured and unstructured data sets.
- Develop AI-driven document processing workflows using Azure AI Document Intelligence (formerly Form Recognizer).
- Work alongside business stakeholders to transform AI opportunities into operational solutions.
- Conduct client workshops, showcase technical demonstrations, and facilitate AI enablement sessions.
- Produce detailed architecture documentation and executive presentations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- More than 10 years' experience delivering enterprise technology solutions.
- At least 5 years of practical experience designing Microsoft Azure-based solutions.
- Proven expertise in architecting and deploying Generative AI and Azure AI solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Azure OpenAI Service, prompt engineering, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Azure Cognitive Search, vector databases, and Azure AI Document Intelligence.
- Experience in deploying, fine-tuning, and optimizing AI models for production.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience working with PySpark and managing extensive data processing tasks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and influence architecture decisions across large-scale enterprise initiatives.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Experience with MLOps and LLMOps methodologies.
- Knowledge of Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Engineering, Databricks, and Mosaic AI platforms.
- Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI practices, and model lifecycle management.
- Expertise in designing secure AI platforms for enterprises.
- Consulting experience delivering AI transformation projects.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102), Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Scientist Associate (DP-100), and Databricks Large Language Models Professional Certification.
