AI Risk & Governance Manager

About the Role

A prominent financial services firm in Singapore is expanding its AI governance division and seeks an experienced manager to oversee AI risk across the organization. This elevated position is embedded within the enterprise risk and governance framework and wields significant influence over the evaluation, approval, and oversight of AI systems.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience within risk functions, capable of making firm decisions under pressure, articulating rationales clearly, and finding practical solutions when AI deployments encounter challenges rather than merely escalating issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the comprehensive governance process for AI systems, including registration, risk evaluation, approvals, and ongoing supervision.
• Identify AI-related risks and control deficiencies relative to regulatory standards and internal policies, and lead corrective actions.
• Lead or participate in local AI governance meetings to monitor actions and maintain up-to-date documentation.
• Serve as the primary escalation point when business units contest governance decisions, balancing operational urgency with risk considerations.
• Educate and develop business stakeholders on applying responsible AI and effective governance practices.
• Monitor and interpret evolving AI risk regulations, integrating practical standards within the company.
• Represent the governance team in industry engagements and cross-team discussions.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years in risk management, technology risk, or data governance, ideally with direct AI or machine learning exposure.
• Proven operational experience managing risk rather than a purely advisory role.
• Technical familiarity with AI system development and deployment sufficient to engage in credible technical discussions.
• Strong aptitude for stakeholder relationship management and confidence to challenge senior leaders appropriately.
• Good judgment to differentiate between substantive governance issues and procedural matters, explaining these distinctions clearly.
• Experience or knowledge of recognized AI governance and risk frameworks such as NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 42001 is beneficial.
• Applicants with substantial AI engineering expertise coupled with risk awareness are also welcome.
