Job description
About the Role
PortSwigger is fully committed to embedding artificial intelligence as the core driver of its operations across all business sectors, not just as a supplementary project or slogan. This position is among a select few entrusted with the pivotal task of executing this vision.
You will engage with complex, undefined AI challenges spanning the organization, particularly in areas yet to adopt AI. Collaborating directly with domain experts, you will identify valuable problems to solve and create effective solutions that enhance processes and outcomes.
The nature of work varies widely—from designing AI-driven workflows for enterprise sales, advising leaders on AI adoption strategies, addressing security risk concerns with engineers, to redefining leadership in an AI-first company culture. Some projects complete in days, others develop into extensive transformative initiatives. You will continuously scope, design, prototype, and test solutions alongside stakeholders, embracing trial and error, and always remain hands-on rather than merely conceptual.
Candidate Profile
You are deeply passionate about AI and integrate it seamlessly into your daily life. From early mornings spent exploring the latest models and tools to creating custom AI-driven tools for personal or user-centered tasks, your enthusiasm is evident.
You maintain subscriptions to multiple AI services and experiment broadly, swiftly adopting superior technologies. Your expertise enables you to communicate nuanced assessments of leading AI models and tools effectively to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
Your productivity has soared thanks to AI, inspiring both admiration and good-natured teasing from peers, who have yet to anticipate its full impact. You seek a role that takes AI seriously, beyond token efforts or restrictive policies.
Beyond enthusiasm, you possess a strong track record of building impactful AI solutions from ambiguous briefs, empirically validating their effectiveness and leaving tangible evidence of your work—code repositories, prototypes, research notes, and side projects.
Your perspective extends beyond surface-level AI applications; you analyze workflows holistically, strive for genuine utility rather than mere demonstrations, and consider implications for human judgment, team dynamics, culture, and leadership.
You thrive on new challenges, embracing domains outside your expertise, learning fast from insiders, and welcoming diverse viewpoints that refine your approach.
Your energy is inspiring rather than performative, motivating colleagues through genuine excitement about AI possibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with go-to-market innovation teams to explore and implement agentic AI strategies that enhance product-led growth, including building, deploying, and evaluating solutions.
- Work closely with the legal department to redesign commercial contract review processes, developing tools that significantly reduce lawyers' workload and assessing their impact.
- Partner with the Culture team to transform onboarding experiences by extracting institutional knowledge and constructing a contextual foundation for AI-driven automation.
- Provide coaching to leaders on leveraging AI to reshape team operations and strategy.
- Engage with security engineers to analyze the implications of new connectors, balancing innovation with safety and practicality.
- Consistently deliver working tools or define clear next steps, maintaining proximity to operational reality rather than theoretical planning.
- Introduce novel tools, methodologies, and practices to elevate the organization's overall AI capabilities, advocating persuasively within the company.
Experience and Background
The company welcomes candidates from diverse professional backgrounds such as product, operations, research, engineering, design, enablement, marketing, and consulting, as well as less traditional paths. The emphasis lies on demonstrated outcomes and cognitive approaches, not formal security or AI credentials.
Ideal applicants generally have 5 to 15 years of relevant career experience marked by significant project deliveries, maintaining close engagement with hands-on work. They possess a mindset grounded in first principles, collaborative teamwork, and flexible planning that adapts to new insights.
Why This Role is Unique
This position stands apart from conventional AI transformation roles that focus on strategy, frameworks, and presentations from a distance. Instead, it demands a proactive practitioner eager to enact meaningful AI-driven change within a company with strong financial backing and clear authorization to innovate rapidly.
Compensation and Benefits
The company offers competitive salaries exceeding average market rates, expected between £80,000 and £150,000 for this position, based on skills and contributions.
Additional benefits include share options, an 8% employer pension contribution, life assurance at four times salary, income protection, private medical insurance through Bupa, and 25 days of paid vacation plus public holidays.
Company Culture
PortSwigger prides itself on a culture of trust, autonomy, and continuous self-improvement, fostering an environment where employees can significantly influence corporate operations and the emergence of an AI-native organizational identity.
