About the Role
We are seeking an AI Engineer to join the core development team of VisionAI, a client of Uplers, located in Bengaluru on a full-time, in-office basis. VisionAI develops SaaS AI-native social content operating systems designed to manage brand content and conversations at an enterprise scale. This role offers the opportunity to shape long-lasting products with global enterprise clients in a small, impactful team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage AI agents and the deterministic multi-modal pipelines they utilize, including vision, audio, and document understanding workflows.
- Create idempotent, restartable, observable, and fault-tolerant AI pipelines that handle retries and recover gracefully from errors.
- Design evaluation frameworks prior to product release, including datasets, metrics, and gating mechanisms to control shipping decisions.
- Ensure model output reproducibility through versioning, caching, and replay capabilities to reconstruct past decisions.
- Strengthen pipelines structurally against adversarial input and prompt injection rather than relying solely on instruction filtering.
- Monitor and optimize operational latency and costs, treating performance regressions as defects.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers to maintain production monitoring relating to latency, failure rates, and cost metrics.
- Architect the model pipeline to be provider-agnostic, allowing seamless provider switching via configuration changes without rewriting code.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience, particularly in deploying AI or LLM-powered features to production environments.
- Experience maintaining responsibility for features post-launch, including managing failures and issues.
- Skilled in building evaluation harnesses and leveraging them for decisive go/no-go deployment decisions.
- Strong systems programming and software engineering capabilities.
- Ability to analyze and reason about failure modes in components producing non-deterministic outputs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with retrieval systems and assessment of their quality.
- Knowledge of adversarial inputs, prompt injection attacks, and strategies for abuse resistance.
- Familiarity with fine-tuning or distillation processes and the supporting infrastructure.
Additional Information
Expected notice period is 45 days. Working hours align with India Standard Time (GMT+05:30). The position is a full-time permanent role managed on payroll and compliance by VisionAI. Salary ranges from INR 2,500,000 to 3,000,000 annually, depending on experience.
Interview Process
- Round 1: Logical and reasoning assessment focusing on basic logic, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Round 2: Technical discussion held in-office lasting 2–3 hours, including coding and system design.
- Round 3: Senior technical interview with leadership such as the Founder, Head of Engineering, or Principal Engineer.
- Final Round: HR and Founder interview focused on cultural and role-fit alignment.
